October 2006 saw a minor rebranding: the X-Fi XtremeMusic edition, which was in fact a highly capable gaming card, as it offers hardware decoding and EAX support, was replaced with the XtremeGamer model.

Launch reviews did not support Creative's claims of higher performance, however, with even the top-end 64 MB equipped model falling slightly behind the older Audigy cards.

The bottom two models feature 2 MB onboard X-RAM, while the top models offer 64 MB of X-RAM, designed for use in games to store sound samples for improved gaming performance.

The Platinum and Fatal1ty FPS models both offer a front-panel drive-bay control unit and remote control, while the base model was supplied without any such accessories.Īll but the top model claimed 109 dB signal-to-noise ratio, while the Elite Pro model uses a higher-end DAC, with 116 dB claimed.

The top-end Elite Pro model was aimed at musicians, bundled with the X-Fi external I/O box (offering phono with preamp inputs for turntables, high-impedance input for guitars, 1⁄ 4 inch mic input, headphone output, line-in, and full size MIDI I/O, as well as optical and RCA Coaxial digital inputs and outputs), and remote control. Running Windows 7 X64 as I was on the other MB.64 MB of dedicated memory found on the Fatal1ty Pro sound card via two Micron Technology 48LC32M8A2-75 D (PC133) SDRAM chips Nothing has changed from my previous MB setup other than the board and the drivers.

I am wondering if the problem is the Realtek driver for the ALC1150, or MSI's version of it.
#SOUND BLASTER X FI MB3 SOFTWARE#
The included Cinema software only appears to alter the OFC audio jacks. So this software supports it, not sure why Tech Support thinks that the software will make the difference, when I cant even select 5.1 under the Digital Audio device output in Device Manager. I am using MPC-HC X64 software to watch movies on a Blu-Ray projector and have always had 5.1 audio using the optical out. You can get 5.1 from the audio optical output for video playback if you use a program like power DVD and the audio track is originally recorded in 5.1. the board will do 5.1 from the analog audio jacks only. It does come with the sound blaster Cinema an audio effect program.

If i try to install the Dolby HD drivers for this board I get an error.ĭear Customer, the board does not have a sound blaster audio controller it has a Realtek audio controller. The old drivers allowed me to install the Dolby HD drivers from Realtek (DCC Win764 2.2.3 Dolby). Tempted to install the old R257 or R267 drivers. Not understanding if it is a MSI Realtek interface problem, or the drivers. I have run through all of the sound settings in Device Manager and can only select 2 channel audio on the Advanced tab for Realtek Digital Output. The MSI Realtek driver under the digital output only gives you the option for CD or DVD with no speaker options, like the Speaker setting does. I have an older Gig board with optical out, and the Realtek drivers that i used for that board had theater 5.1 options. I cannot get 5.1 audio from the optical S/PDIF Out, and figured this software might be the fix. I would expect that this software is included with the MPower boards as well. It is part of the software package included with the MB, and is for sale by Creative. No where does the Creative site say it is a external soundcard required software. Quote from Creative: The Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 software suite is a powerful audio platform equipped with cutting-edge audio technology, offering premium audio quality, effects and features for ordinary PC systems equipped with only basic onboard audio. For anyone that says I do not have a SB card installed, my understanding is that this is not a driver, but software to enhance basic onboard audio on a motherboard. Has anyone else purchased this board and installed the XFI MB3 software from the included driver CD? I installed the software and it states that "There is no supported audio device available". New purchaser of the Z87-GD65 motherboard.
